Abstract:Objective To analyze chest CT features of bronchiolitis obliterans in children,and to evaluate imaging features in diagnosing bronchiolitis obliterans.Methods CT materials of 23 pediatric patients wit...Objective To analyze chest CT features of bronchiolitis obliterans in children,and to evaluate imaging features in diagnosing bronchiolitis obliterans.Methods CT materials of 23 pediatric patients with clinically-proved bronchiolitis obliterans were retrospectively analyzed.The pediatric patients included 15 boys and 8 girls,and their age varied from 6 months to 4 years.All the pediatric patients presented with a chief complain of persistent cough associated with asthma for over 6 weeks.The patients were followed up for 6 months to 2.5 years.Results Chest CT scanning was performed in all the 23 patients,and combined with the clinical information the diagnosis of bronchiolitis obliterans was made.CT findings included mosaic perfusion sign(n = 23),unilateral hyerlucent lung(n = 4),air trapping sign(n = 9),bronchiectasis(n = 15),bronchial wall thickening(n = 15),pulmonary atelectasis(n = 4) and sparse lung makings at diseased region demonstrated by pulmonary arteriography performed at other hospital(n = 1).Conclusion CT scanning is an excellent imaging means to diagnose bronchiolitis obliterans in children,it plays an important role in early diagnosing bronchiolitis obliterans and in evaluating its prognosis.Read More
