Title: CT Diagnosis of Atlantoaxial Rotatory Dislocation
Abstract: Objective To study the appearance of atlantoaxial rotatory dislocation with CT and to evaluate its value. Methods 36 patients with atlantoaxial rotatory dislocation(AARD) were examined by CT scan.Among them, 9 cases were examined with lateral radiograph and anteroposterior open-mouth radiograph in addition. 6 normal subjects were examined with functional CT scan. Results According to 36 cases with AARD,the fixed angle of atlantoaxial, altas dislocation, fracture, shape of spinal canal and the lesions around could be clearly found on CT image. It was difficult for radiograph to find out atlantoaxial rotatory. The largest atlantoaxial rotatory angle of normal cases was from 33 degree to 60 degree. Conclusion Atlantoaxial rotatory can be properly found with CT scan and atlantoaxial rotatory fixtion is the important foundation for diagnosis of AARD.
