Title: Clean dyeing of silk fabrics with acid dyes
Abstract: Bombyx mori silk fabrics were chemically modified by a self-prepared novel modifying agent [3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl dodecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride,HSQA]in order to improve the dyeability of acid dyes on silk fabrics and realize low temperature and neutral dyeing. The dyeing techniques were optimized, and the effect of pH values of dye bath,Na2SO4 concentration, temperature and time on K /S values of the fabric was investigated. The properties of color fastness, levelling, saved dye quantity of the fabric before and after modification were compared.Adsorption isotherms of C.I.Acid Orange 7 on the treated silk were discussed. It was found that better color shades, good washing fastness and saving of dyes were achieved after silk cationization with HSQA,and it was possible to dye silk in neutral condition at 70 ℃.Furthermore, adsorption isotherms of C.I.Acid Orange 7 on the treated silk were in accord with Langmuir type.
