Title: Expression of Livin protein in breast cancer tissue and its relationship with clinical pathological characteristics and cell proliferation of patients
Abstract: Objective To discuss expression of Livin protein in breast cancer tissue and its relationship with clinical pathological characteristics and cell proliferation of patients. Methods The expression of Livin protein in breast cancer tissue was detected by immunohistochemical S-P method, and its relationship with clinical pathological characteristics of patients such as ages of patients, histological grade, lymphatic metastasis and etc and cell proliferation was discussed. Additionally, 20 cases of normal tissues adjacent to cancer and 10 cases of normal mammary tissue were selected as control subjects. Results The expression of Livin protein in normal breast, normal tissues adjacent to cancer and breast cancer tissue showed the gradually increasing trend(χ2=18.28,P0.01). The expression of Livin protein in breast cancer tissue had close effect on clinical stages and lymphatic metastasis(χ2=4.19 and 7.73, P0.05 or P0.01). The proliferation index of PCNA in breast cancer tissues, in which the Livin shows the negative expression, is much lower than that in breast cancer tissues, in which the Livin shows the active expression(t=2.37,P0.05). Conclusion The expression of Livin protein in different stages of occurrence and development shows the progressive upward trend, and the Livin protein plays a promoting role in the activities of invasion and transfer of breast cancer cells, which can be the index of evaluation of prognosis.
