Title: Petroleum geologic property and hydrocarbon accumulation pattern of Seyun-Masila basin in the South of Arabian Plate
Abstract: Seyun-Masila Basin in Yemen is a passive rift basin. It was resulted from the extensional tectonics of the shear stress field. It is different from the active rift basin formed by the uplift of mantle convection. In the vertical direction, there are two phases of rifting with the strong-weak pattern, respectively. There are two sets of source rocks in the basin.Black mudstone in The Madbi Formation generated in the first rifting is the principle source bed.The assemblage of lower Qishn member sandstone and upper Qishn member regional cap rock formed the chief oil-bearing beds. The tilted antithetic normal faults, buried ridges and anticlines are the main traps. The Seyun-Masila Basin has predominant hydrocarbon forming conditions and a great exploration potential.
