Title: Cataract phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation for with high myopia.
Abstract: Objective To assess the therapeutic effect of phacoemulsification with intraocular lens(IOL) implantation for cataract with hight myopoa. Methods Phacoemulsification with IOL implantation was done on 74 cases(102 eyes) suffered from cataract and high myopia with long axial length( 26.00 mm) .The nucleus hardness was Grade Ⅱ in 4 eyes, Grads Ⅲin 78 eyes,Grade Ⅳ in 14 eyes,Grade V in 6 eyes. Results At one month after operation 53 eyes(51.96% ) attained uncorrected visual acuity of 0.5 or better,70 eyes(68.63%) attained corrected visual acuity of 0.5 or better. Complications included posterior capsular rupture in 4 eyes(3 .92%), corneal edema in 7 eyes(6.86% ), retinal detachment in 2 eyes (1. 96 %) and posterior capsular opacity in 6 eyes (5.88%). Conclusion Phacoemulsification with IOL implantation is suitable for the patients with cataract with high myopia. The operative methods should be chosen carefully for cataract of Grade V nucleus in order to reduce the intraoperative complication.
