Title: Clinical and psychoacoustic characteristics of tinnitus patients with sensorineural hearing loss
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical and psychoacoustic characteristics of tinnitus patients with sensorineural hearing loss,the characteristics of tinnitus were identified in order to facilitate their further management.METHODS One hundred and fifty seven tinnitus sufferers were studied.All the patients were interviewed by the same investigator,using the same questionnaire.Data were collected and analyzed.RESULTS There was a slight predominance of males.The hearing impairment results were limited to the high frequencies in 53.50% of the patients,pitch-matching was limited to high frequencies in 70.70% of the patients with sensorineural hearing loss(SNHL),while 94.05% of the patients with high-frequency SNHL had a high-pitched tinnitus.CONCLUSION There is a significant relationship between high-pitched tinnitus and high-frequency SNHL.There is no significant correlation between tinnitus severity and tinnitus loudness.
