Title: Mixed dynamic reactive power compensation equipment and its application
Abstract: Voltage fluctuations and flickers caused by electric arc-furnace have been a major concern for customers in the field of power quality.To solve this problem,a mixed dynamic reactive power compensation system with a big rating static var compensator(SVC),a small rating static synchronous compensator(STATCOM)and a series reactor is proposed.In this system,the SVC acts as a classic reactive power compensator for load balancing and power factor correction,and the STATCOM is used to compensate for the reactive power error of SVC and loads rapidly.Decoupling control by expert rules is adopted to solve the conflict of them.The series reactor can decrease flicker overspreading.The proposed mixed compensation system has been put into operation in a certain casting-Forging plant,by means of comparing and analyzing the indexes of power quality before and after the proposed system put into operation,the effect is equal to a lone STATCOM if the rating is equal to both SVC and STATCOM in this system.And it has a good engineering application effect.
