Title: Correlation of gastric cancer in lymph node metastasis among the pathology features and the expression of VEGF-D,VEGFR-3,LVD
Abstract: Objective To investigate the relationship of gastric cancer in lymph node metastasis among the pathology features and the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor-D(VEGF-D),vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-3(VEGFR-3),lymphatic vessel density(LVD).Methods The protein expression of VEGF-D,VEGFR-3,LVD was detected by immunohistochemical SP technique in 59 gastric cancer specimens. Results The positive rates of VEGF-D,VEGFR-3 in gastric carcinoma tissues were 59.32%、67.80% respectively, which were significantly higher than those in atypical hyperplasia tissues of adjacent carcinoma and normal gastric mucous membrane tissues(P0.05).The expression of LVD in adjacent carcinoma tissues was(21.29±8.21),which was significantly higher than that in adjacent normal tissues.LVD was(23.15±7.58),(11.93±5.31) respectively in the 35 cases with positive expression and 24 cases with negative expression of VEGF-D.The differences were statistically significant in each of the groups(P0.05).The expressions of VEGF-D and LVD were correlated with pathologic features including lymph node size, lymph node metastasis staging, serosal invasion staging(P0.05),TNM staging and the degree of differentiation. Conclusion The expression of VEGF-D is higher in the gastric carcinoma tissues, and it is closely correlated with the lymphatic vessel development and lymph node metastasis of gastric carcinoma.
