Title: An Analysis of the Relationship between Self-esteem and Loneliness of College Students
Abstract: This article talked about the relationship between self-esteem and loneliness of college freshmen. It conducted the survey of 350 college freshmen by using the Self-Esteem Scale and emotional and social loneliness scale. Results showed that their feeling of loneliness varied much in terms of gender, boys score higher than girls;their esteem varied remarkably in terms of whether be an only child or not and children with siblings score higher than the only child;no significant difference appeared in other areas. All these above showed that the self-esteem and emotional and social loneliness were significantly positive correlated, which indicated that there was a close relationship between the two and people should pay enough attention to guide and intervene students.
