Abstract: Zhou Enlai was an art utilitarian,who regarded drama as an idcological enlightenment and the important weapon and tool for pablicity of revolution,and he understood the characters and rules of the art itself,and therefore,he respected the creative works by the artists and opposed to the simple rude attitude and measures to the artists and the drama works,such as put on cap(dai mao zi)and attack by baton(dagun zi);taking to the stand of Marxism utilitarianism,against the leftway of thinking which takes the ideology seriously but belittles the art at that time.He referred to and emphasized the dialectics and unity of the thinking and the artistry,which enriched and developed Marxist art theory and aesthetics idea. On the basis of widely taking advantage of the art board and aboard,he insisted in going along the road that belongs to China to realize the nationalization of the drama,which is another important character of Zhou Enlai's idea on drama and which is also the assertion he persisted in and longed for all his life.Besides,his literary taste and the super art appreciation advanced Zhou Enlai's idea on drama further.
