Title: Sonography-guided Percutaneous Biopsy of Bowel Wall with 18-gauge Core Needles
Abstract: abstract: The success rate and safety of percutaneous core biopsies of bowel wall lesions using 18-gauge needle with sonographic guidance were evaluated. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study was carried out on 33 biopsy procedures performed in 11 patients suspected of intestinal tract neoplasm. A biopsy was considered successful if a specific pathologic diagnosis could be obtained. Results: Satisfactory sampling was obtained in all patients and no need for repeated biopsies. All procedures were well tolerated without any major complications. Conclusion: Sonography-guided percutaneous biopsy of the bowel wall using 18-gauge needle can be used safely and effectively to diagnose digestive tract lesions.
