Title: Effects of Soil Moisture before Sowing on Growth and Yield of Winter Wheat
Abstract: Effects of soil moisture before sowing on growth and development, grain yield and water utilization of winter wheat were investigated with field experiments during two growing seasons. Results shown that high yield and WUE(water use efficiency) could be acquired with watering during overwintering or reviving period under the condition of no irrigation before sowing, indicating soil moisture stored in soil before sowing could meet the demand of winter to water before reviving.Under the condition of storage irrigation before sowing, winter wheat didn't need irrigation during overwintering period;the appropriate irrigation time was the reviving period.Yield and WUE decreased with watering during jointing or seed filling period. The results would help deal with the consecutive winter-spring drought during nearly two years.
