Title: Influence Mechanism of Microstructure on Optical Performance of Fused-taper Fiber Device
Abstract: Aiming at those defaults such as poor coherence of performance,higher excess loss and lower isolation in fiber devices such as fiber coupler,wavelength division multiplex and so on,based on the coupling mode equation,it is found out with Matlab that the influence of refractive index on the coupling ration is very great.The change of 0.02 in refractive index can induce the change of 1 period in coupling ration.Thereafter based on molecular vibration theory,the relationship between the characteristic peak of infrared spectrum and the bond angle is obtained,and the relational expression among the bond angle,molecular volume and the refractive index is derived.At last,it is found by testing with micro infrared spectrum that the refractive index is nonuniform,the one at the taper region is the smallest,the one at fused region s medium,and the one of bare fiber is the largest.When the drawing speed changes 50 μm/s,the refractive index changes 0.0023.Those changes deteriorate the optical performance of fiber coupler.
