Title: Lung perfusion with HTK solution in corrections of tetralogy of Fallot
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the protective effect of pulmonary perfusion with hypothermic HTK solution on lung function after cardiopulmonary bypass in corrections of tetralogy of Fallot. Methods Twenty-four infants with tetralogy of Fallot were randomly divided into perfusion group(n=12) and control group(n=12).Oxygen index,alveolar-arterial oxygen gradient, serum levels of interleukin-6,interleukin-8,soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and P-selectin were measured before and after termination of bypass. Results Oxygenation values were better preserved in the perfusion group than in control group. The trend revealed significant differences in serum levels of interleukin-6,soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1,and P-selectin between groups. The serum level of interleukin-8 after termination of bypass was significantly lower in the perfusion group than that in control group. Conclusion Pulmonary perfusion with hypothermic HTK solution can effectively lower the incidence of inflammatory response, and improve the pulmonary function after correction of tetralogy of Fallot.
