Title: Effects of CO_2 Dilution on NO_x Formation Characteristics in Syngas Diffusion Flames
Abstract: In order to reveal the NOx formation mechanism and restraining measures during syngas combustion, the effects of CO2 dilution on NOx formation in syngas counterflow diffusion flames were investigated using the detailed kinetic mechanism modeling. The results revealed that the structure of diffusion flames and the percentage of NO in total NOx emission produced via different mechanisms varied with the variation of syngas components and the addition of diluent CO2.At a low strain rate NO is produced mostly due to the thermal mechanism, while at a high strain rate, more NO is produced in syngas containing methane than in syngas without CH4.The emission index EINOxmonotonically decreases with the increase of the CO2 volume percentage.Air dilution has a better effect on the reduction of NOx emission than fuel dilution.
