Title: The application of orbital volume measuring by CT in orbital blowout fracture
Abstract: Objective The application of orbital volume measuring by CT in orbital blowout fracture.Methods By CT measurements and computer software in 78 cases of orbital blowout fracture in patients with normal eye ipsilateral and contralateral eyes were scanning the row axis and coronal scans,and calculated the difference of the average values of bilateral orbital volume.Results The eye orbital volume on the ill side is bigger than the good side,the orbital volume increases 1ml,the degree of enophthalmos is about 0.9 mm.The differences of the average values of orbital volume using two different methods were 0.35ml and 2.251 ml in patients with blow out fracture of orbital floor,and differences of that were 3.06 ml and 0.51 ml in patients with medical wall fracture,differences of that were 3.64 ml and 3.31 ml in patients with medical and floor wall fracture,The bilateral orbital volume difference of the average values is 3.43 ml in patients with orbital reconstructive surgery.Conclusion To choose axial scanning in patients with floor wall fracture,to choose coronal scanning in patients with medical wall fracture,to choose both of two methods is rational in patients with medical and floor wall fracture.Early post-traumatic orbital volume measurements can predict the degree of enophthalmos occurred,and provide an objective basis for surgical treatment.
