Title: Efficacy of levofloxacin eye drops in the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis and keratitis
Abstract: Objective:To observe the efficacy of levofloxacin eye drops in the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis and keratitis.Methods:62 patients were divided to receive 0.3% levofloxacin eye drops( n =31) or 0.3% ofloxacin eye drops( n =31) and their efficacy and side effects were observed. The susceptibility and MIC of the 2 drugs to bacteria from cultured strain isolated from conjunctival capsule were also determined. Results:No significant difference in effective rate was observed between groups but significant difference existed between groups in treatment course with shorter course for levofloxacin group( P 0.05).And the MIC for levofloxacin group was significant lower than that of ofloxacin group( P 0.01).Conclusion:0.3% levofloxacin eye drops has a shorter course in treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis and keratitis in comparison with 0.3% ofloxacin eye drops.
