Title: Study on the correlation between serum uric acid and urinary albumin to creatinine ratio in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Abstract: Objective To explore the correlation between serum uric acid and urinary albumin to creatinine ratio in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 316 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were detected serum uric acid, fractional excretion of uric acid and urinary albumin to creatinine ratio. The patients were divided into normal albuminuria, microalbuminuria and macroalbuminuria group according to urinary albumin to creatinine ratio, and normal groups(SUA360 μmol/L) and hyperuricemia group(SUA≥360 μmol/L) according to serum uric acid level. All patients were redivided into 4 groups according to the serum uric acid levels.SPSS 13.0 software package was used to do the analysis. Results Hyperuricemia groups had higher body mass index, waist to hip ratio, mean arterial pressure, triacylglycerol and urinary albumin to creatinine ratio(P0.05).The serum uric acid levels of normal albuminuria group, microalbuminuria group, and macroalbuminuria group were(285.3±76.8),(300.1±101.3) and(342.4±103.8) μmol/L respectively, which showed a statistic difference(P0.05).The prevalence of abnormal albuminuria of the 4 groups were 19.4%,20%,22.5% and 34.8%.The serum uric acid, fractional excretion of uric acid, and the mean arterial pressure were the independent risk factors of urinary albumin to creatinine ratio, and the odds ratio of serum uric acid for abnormal albuminuria was 1.158(P=0.008).Conclusion The serum uric acid is independently associated with urinary albumin to creatinine ratio in type 2 diabetes mellitus, and can reflect the nephropathy in the early stage.
