Title: Expression of p53, Bcl-2 and Bax in Pixuzheng of colorectal carcinoma
Abstract: AIM: To study the correlation between Pixuzheng of colorectal carcinoma and the expression of p53, Bcl 2 and Bax. METHODS: Sixty one patients with advanced poorly differentiated adenocarcinomas were divided into Pixuzheng and non pixuzheng groups according to syndrome differentiation of TCM. The semiquantitative scores of the syndrome of each patient were counted. And there was a control group of 20 healthy volunteers without lesion of colonic mucosa. Immunohistochemistry S P was used to detect the expression of p53, Bcl 2 and Bax proteins. RESULTS: The positivity rate and level of expression of p53 and Bcl 2 in Pixuzheng group were significantly higher than those in non pixuzheng group ( P 0.05). There was no significant difference in the positivity rate of the expression of Bax between Pixuzheng and non pixuzheng groups ( P 0.05). There was significant correlation between the expression of p53 or Bcl 2 protein and scores of Pixuzheng ( P 0.01). There was no significant correlation between the expression of Bax and scores of Pixuzheng ( P 0.05), and between the expression of p53, Bcl 2 or Bax protein and the scores of non pixuzheng ( P 0.05). CONCLUSION: There is correlation between Pixuzheng of colorectal carcinoma and abnormal expression of p53 and Bcl 2.
