Title: Clinical study on preservation of auto-cranial pedicle flap under galea aponeurotica
Abstract: Objective To investigate the merits of preservation under galea aponeurotica of auto-cranial pedicle flap. Methods Patients after undergoing decompressive craniotomy were divided randomly into two groups. In study group, auto-cranial pediele flaps were preserved under galea aponeurotica; in control group, auto-cranial free flaps were preserved under galea aponeurotica or profound hypothermia. The flaps were reinserted into the sites of initial operation for cranioplasty in two groups. Pathological examination was done before the retransplantation and X-ray follow-up after the operation. Results The survival rate of bone cells examined pathologically before retransplantation of pedicle flaps is high and skull survives performed with X-ray follow-up after the operation. Conclusion The method that auto-cranial pedicle flaps are preserved under galea aponeurotica is better than any other one and benefical to the survival of skull after retransplantation.
