Abstract: Qingyang was known as in Qin and Han Dynasties. It adjoins NingXia in the northwest, Shaanxi province and PingLiang City in the southeast. In history, it served as an important frontier fortress. As early as Qin and Han Dynasties, Beidi had become the boundary between Han Dynasty and Xun Kingdom. In Sui and Tang Dynasties, it became the border area due to the aggression of Tibetan regime in ancient China. In the late Tianbao period of Tang Dynasty, it was a main battlefield between Tang Dynasty and the Tibetan regime. In Northern Song Dynasty, it changed into the boundary line between Song Dynasty and the Western Xia regime. After Jin Dynasty occupied the northwest region of Song, it became the boundary between Jin and Xia. After Mongolians conquered the Western Xia regime, it became the frontier area which Jin and the Mongolian Kingdom fought for. Generally speaking, Beidi witnessed continuous hardships of war in the past. On the one hand, such wars brought about tremendous sufferings to the people of Beidi, on the other hand, they also cultivated many famous generals.
