Title: Research on the Change of Runoff-Sediment Relationship due to Soil and Water Conservation in Jialingjiang River Basin
Abstract: Jialingjiang River is one of the largest tributaries to the Upper Yangtze River. It is also one of the main sediment and flood source of Three Gorges Reservoir. The long-term annual average runoff was7.01×10 10 m 3 ,while the long-term annual average suspended sediment discharge was1.4×10 11 kg before1989.After implementation of soil and water conservation in Yangtze River, the soil and water losses have been greatly reduced:the annual average runoff was5.61×10 10 m 3 ,and the annual sediment discharge was4.8×10 10 kg from1992to1998.This paper analyzes the change in runoff, sediment, and their relationship based on the measured hydrological data from the main stations in the basin.
