Title: Rb、Sr Elements and High Resolution Climatic Records in the Loess-Paleosol Profile at Qishan, Shannxi
Abstract: A higher resolution loess palaeosl sequence was found at Wulipu, Qishan County,Shannxi.Detailed studies of Rb?Sr concentration and Rb/Sr ratio suggest that climatic change during the Holoence in the southern Loess Plateau was obvious. This conclusion is confirmed by the magnetic susceptibility and grain size in the profile.Analytical result shows Rb and Sr concentration are higher in the loess beds than that in the palaeosol beds.Rb/Sr ration is lower in the loesses beds than that in the palaeosols. It indicates that Rb?Sr concentration and Rb/Sr ration can be used as climatic proxy to identify the loess and palaeosol layers and reveal the monsoon change. They are more sensitive than magnetic susceptibility in reflection of smaller scale climatic change.Higher Rb/Sr ration and lower Rb?Sr concentration, normally associated with the palaeosol, means stronger southeast monsoon and warmer wetter climate. And lower Rb/Sr ratio and higher Rb?Sr concentration, normally associated with the loess, means stronger northwest monsoon and drier climate.A remarkable aridity phase with accelerated aeolian dust deposition occurred between 6 000 and 5 000 aBP.It has been another relative aridity period since 3 100 year. The environment change of the Holocence in the southern Loess Plateau are generalized as:aeolian dust deposit to form loess L t→soil forming of S 2 0,with warmer wetter climate→ aeolian dust deposit to form loess L 2 0,and S 2 0 was buried, with dried climate→soil forming of S 1 0,with warm wet climate→aeolian dust deposit to form L 1 0 and formation of the modern surface soil, with relative aridity.
