Title: Progress in molecular targeted therapy for thyroid carcinoma
Abstract: The treatment for thyroid cancer is mainly based on surgery. However, for the patients with metastatic, invasive and advanced thyroid cancer, the therapeutic efficacy of surgical operation is limited. Meanwhile, the radioactive iodine therapy and chemotherapy for high-grade thyroid cancer exert no substantial effects. The development of molecular targeted therapy brings new hopes for these patients. This article reviews the molecular pathogenesis of thyroid cancer, the mechanism of action of molecular targeted drugs and the therapeutic effects and adverse reactions of these targeted drugs.
