Title: Relationship between Personality and Mental Health in High School Students
Abstract: Objective: To examine correlations between mental health and personality or defense style in high school students. Methods: 518 students were assessed by the SCL-90, EPQ, and Defense Style Questionnaire. Results: Mental health problems were more commonly found in students with maladaptive personality and unstable emotion. Majority of students with mental health problems adopt immature defense styles. Conclusion: Mental health education should be addressed to the personality characteristics of individual students. In addition, maladaptive defense styles should be modified.
