Title: Role of Brain Natriuretic Peptide in Acute Coronary Syndrome
Abstract: Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is a 32 amino acid peptide that is synthesized and released predominantly from ventricular myocardium.Circulating plasma levels of BNP are elevated in patients with heart failure and provide diagnostic and prognostic information.Plasma BNP concentrations are also increased significantly in patients with acute coronary syndrome, which will predict the risk of mortality and nonfatal cardiac events in patients with acute coronary syndrome in recent studies. The plasma levels of BNP may serve as a new factor of risk stratification in patients with acute coronary syndrome.
