Title: Ideology and News Translation from the Perspective of Critical Discourse Analysis
Abstract: As a product of social practice, news discourse reflects the ideology of its interest groups and the stances and opinions of its producers, hence no absolute objectivity. As a cross-linguistic and cross-cultural communication, news translation is more influenced by ideology. This paper, guided by Critical Discourse Analysis and based on the reading of implied ideological elements in the decoding process and the analysis of the impacts of ideology in the encoding process, proposes a critical eye needed in reading and analyzing the information both within and without the discourse and that appropriate translating approaches like deletion, addition and translating and compiling adopted to flexibly address the ideologically important elements on the condition that the main idea and information of the source text remain the same.At the same time, the paper puts forward that the distances of ideologies among different nations have been shrinking with the increase of cultural exchanges;therefore the influence of ideologies should not be over-exaggerated.
