Title: The Morphological Alterations of Intestinal Mucosa in Rats with Cerebral Hemorrhage and the Effects of Largehead Atractylodes Rhizome on these Alterations
Abstract: Objective:To observe the morphological alterations of small intestinal mucosa in rats with cerebral hemorrhage and evaluate the effects of largehead atractylodes rhizome on these alterations.Methods:56 SD rats were randomly divided into control(n=8),hemorrhage(n=24) and therapeutic groups(n=24).The morphological alterations of jejunal mucosa of the rats in the three groups were detected and analyzed at days 1,7 and 14 after cerebral hemorrhage. Results:Of the three groups, the small intestinal villus area of the rats in the hemorrhage group was decreased quickest and most severely, and the small intestinal villus height and mucosal thickness were decreased gradually, but the density and depth of small intestinal gland were decreased at first and increased subsequently. In contrast, the small intestinal villus area of the rats in the therapeutic group was decreased slightly, and the small intestinal villus height and mucosal thickness were decreased significantly(P0.01),and the density and depth of the small intestinal gland were increased slightly at day 1 after cerebral hemorrhage. At day 7,the small intestinal villus area, villus height and mucosal thickness were decreased slightly, but the density and depth of small intestinal gland were increased significantly. At day 14,the small intestinal villus area, villus height and mucosal thickness were increased significantly(P0.01),but the density and depth of small intestinal gland were decreased slightly. Conclusion:The cerebral hemorrhage can cause atrophy of the small intestinal mucosa of rats and largehead atractylodes rhizome can exert protective effect on the small intestinal mucosa.
