Title: On the Humanistic Concern in Atonement,a Novel by Ian McEwan
Abstract: Ian McEwan's novel,Atonement,is a story about repentance and atonement.Briony,the young heroine,destroyed a pair of young lovers' lifelong happiness by telling a lie,who were Robbie and her sister,Cecilia.When she grew up,Briony came to realize her mistake and was intent on on her and asking for the forgiveness.Based on the novel,the thesis will give an analysis on the heroine's emotional changes during the process from making sins to repenting on the sins,aiming at showing the humanistic concern in the novel.
