Title: Study on changes of plaque fluoride concentrations of fluoride products
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the dynamic changes of plaque fluoride concentrations of volunteers after being used with different fluoride agents so as to discuss their effects on plaque fluorides of different fluoride agents, which could further provide substantial experimental basis for clinical choice of more effective fluoride agents. Methods Fifty-six volunteers were selected for the experiment, divided into 4 groups randomly, which were Fluor Protector group, Bilfluoride group, 0.2% NaF rinse group and 1.23% APF foam group. Plaque fluoride concentrations after 1, 3 and 7 days were detected by fluoride ion-specific electrode and the results were compared with those of base levels. Results Plaque fluoride concentrations were all raised after using different fluoride agents. The plaque fluoride concentrations of 0.2% NaF rinse and 1.23% APF foam are higher than the base level just on the first day, but those of Fluor Protector and Bilfluoride are higher than the base level both on the first day and third day, and those of Bilfluoride are higher than the base level on the seventh day. Conclusion Bilfluoride and Fluor Protector can extend the period of time of fluoride concentrations in the plaques and decrease the clearing speed of plaque fluorides, which could in turn facilitate their actions of caries prevention.
