Abstract: As one type of sketches from nature, landscape sketches help students of fine arts develop a comprehensive command of the visual skills involved with painting. Such an argument is well supported by the two facts. Firstly of all, many world masterpieces are based on landscape sketches. Secondly, the landscape sketching itself can be established as an integrated form of painting. Therefore, a good command of the art of landscape sketching contributes to the performance and esthetic values of prospective artists.
