From the perspective of ethical function, Buddhism and Taoism were not on a par with Confucianism. During the course of Buddhism’s localization in China, it spontaneously chose the path of Confucianization in the ethical construction, and Taoism took the same way as Buddhism in its subsequent development. The Confucianization of both Buddhist and Taoist ethics were mainly embodied in the works explaining and advocating loyalty and finicality, formation of the religious foundation, and the fusion of Five Precepts and Five Permanents.Read More
