Abstract:This paper analyzes in detail the basic principles of paleoclimate reconstruction and advances in research on climate changes recorded by multiple natural records which include stalagmite,peat and lak...This paper analyzes in detail the basic principles of paleoclimate reconstruction and advances in research on climate changes recorded by multiple natural records which include stalagmite,peat and lake sediments in Southwest China during the Holocene.Future research should be focused on the following aspects: 1) to reinforce research on the mechanism of proxies to deduce climate changes and thus to establish quantitative/semi-quantitative reconstruction methods for paleoclimate;2) to reinforce high-resolution research on multiple climate proxies on different time scales,revealing the nature of extreme climate change events such as 8.2ka cold-dry events,4.2ka cold-dry events and Little Ice Age,and their possible effects on regional environments;3) to reinforce comparison research among different regions,revealing the driving factors affecting climate changes and their influence on different regions.This study is helpful to understand the characteristics of climate changes in southwestern China and provide the basic information for predicting future climate changes.Read More
