Title: NEW GENUS AND NEW SPECIES OF GRASSHOPPERS FROM YUNNAN AND GUANGXI (ORTHOPTERA, ACRIDOIDEA)
Abstract: This paper reports a new genus 3 new species and a new subspecies of grasshoppers from Yunnan and Guangxi. Type specimens are preserved in the Institute of Zoology, Shaanxi Normal University.Spathosternum prasiniferum yunnanense ssp. nov. (Figs.1-4) This new subspecies is allied to Spathosternum prasiniferum xizangense Yin,1984, but differs in: 1)width of interocula distance 1.5-1.7 (♂) or 2 (♀) times the width of frontal ridge; 2) apex of prosternal spine distinctly concave in the middle, lateral sides with two obtuse teeth; 3) posterior margin of subgenital plate of female with three teeth; 4) hind wing dark brown; 5) knee black. Length of body: ♂ 13-14mm, ♀ 17mm. Length of elytra: ♂ 11.5-12.5mm, ♀ 15.5mm. Length of hind femur: ♂ 8-9mm, ♀ 10mm. Holotype ♂, Mengla(21°5′N, 101°3′E), Yun- nan, 25 July 2004, WEI Shi-Zhen. Paratypes 1♂,1♀ as holotype.Coptacra nigrifemura sp. nov. (Figs.5-7) This new species is allied to Coptacra hainanensis Tinkham, 1940 and Coptacra tonkinensis Willemse,1939. It differs from both by: 1) antennae brown, apical four segments yellowish; 2) inner side of hind femur black. It differs from the former in: 1) elytra reaching far behind the apex of hind femur; 2) hind tibia orange red. It differs from the latter in: 1) in profile, frontal ridge concave under the median ocellus; 2) anterior transverse sulcus of pronotum cutting the median keel deeply. ♀. Length of body 32-33mm, length of elytra 29-30mm, length of hind femur 18.0-18.5mm. Holotype ♀,Yizhou(24°5′N,108°7′E), Guangxi, 22 Aug.2004, WEI Shi-Zhen. Paratype 1 ♀,Yizhou, Guangxi,22 Aug. 2004, ZHENG Zhe-Min.Tectiacris gen. nov. Size median, stout and short. Vertex wide and short, anterior margin rounded, with media keel. Foveola absent. Frontal ridge nearly vetical in profile, with longitudinal sulcus. Antennae filiform, reaching posterior margin of pronotum. Eyes elliptical. Pronotum tectiform, with coarse wrinkles, median ridge distinctly, cut by three sulci; lateral ridges only distinctly in metazoan; in the meddle of hind margin of pronotum with a triangular concave; length of prozona 2.5 times its metazoan; prosternal spine long conical. Elytra narrow stripe like, not reaching the posterior margin of first tergite of abdomen. Median keel of upper side of hind femur with sparse teeth; lower kneelobe of hind femur angular rounded. Tympanal organ wide oval. Type species: Tectiacris maculifemura sp. nov. This new genus is allied to Habrocnemis Uvarov,1930, but differs in: 1) pronotum tectiform; 2) la- teral ridges distinctly in metazoan; 3) prosternal spine long conical, apex sharp; 4) posterior margin of pronotum with deep concave; 5) elytra narrow stipe like. Tectiacris maculifemura sp. nov.(Figs.8-13) Body yellow brown or dark brown. Antennae brown, nearly the apical segments yellowish. Ocular band wide and black, upper part of lateral lobe of pronotum black. Elytra brown. Outer side of hind femur with two black bands, basal part with a black spot, upper kneelobe black; inner side of hind femur black; hind tibia yellow brown; the lateral side of abdomen with a wide black band. ♀. Length of body 21-24mm,length of pronotum 7mm, length of elytra 2-3mm, length of hind femur 15-17mm. Holotype ♀,Mengla(21°5′N,101°3′E), Yunnan, 26 July 2004, WEI Shi-Zhen. Paratype 1♀, as holotype.Sphingonotus menglaensis sp. nov.(Figs.14-15) This new species is allied to Sphingonotus savignyi Saussure,1884 and Sphingonotus hyalopterus Zheng et Cao,1989, but differs from both in: 1) length of elytra 8 times of its width; 2) Rs with four branches; 3) the middle of hind wing with a wide black band, apex hyaline; 4) hind tibia yellow, with a dark band. ♂. Length of body 25mm, length of elytra 32mm, length of hind femur 14mm. Holotype ♂, Mengla(21°1′N,110°3′E), Yunnan, 26 July 2004, WEI Shi-Zhen.
