Title: Numerical simulation of mixing characteristics of Fullzone impeller
Abstract: The mixing characteristics of Fullzone agitator were studied by computational fluid dynamics techniques( CFD) in highly viscous pseudoplastic fluid. The combination influence of stagger angle( up and down blade) and sweepback( down blade) of impeller on the mixing process was investigated,including distribution of mixing flow field,power consumption,pumping number,dead zone fraction,shear rate and apparent viscosity. The result shows that power consumption is inversely proportional to sweepback and stagger angle of impeller,which is consistent with that reported in literatures. The double circulation type flow field is influenced by the stagger angle and sweepback of impeller. The optimum combination of stagger angel and sweepback( 60°- 60°) results in low power consumption,large pumping number and small dead zone fraction for impeller.
