Abstract:Objective:Evaluate the accuracy of measuring root canal working length by CBCT in order to provide the proof for the clinical work.Methods:Collected 40 mandibular and maxillary molars(a total of 136 r...Objective:Evaluate the accuracy of measuring root canal working length by CBCT in order to provide the proof for the clinical work.Methods:Collected 40 mandibular and maxillary molars(a total of 136 root canals) between November 2011 to January 2012,which extracted at our hospital because of the requirement of the treatment,with the complete contour,the mature apical stomata,non-caries,non-filling and non-endodontic treatment history.The length of the extracted teeth root canal measured under direct vision was granted as the criterion to compare the measuring accuracy of the CBCT,the RVG and the electronic apex locator(EAL).Provide a reference for selecting quantitative methods of measuring the root canal working length in clinical.Results:CBCT(root lumen measurement;root length measurement accuracy of the method) are 84.56%,91.91%,RVG,the electronic apex locator(EAL) accuracy rate is 58.09%,86.03%.The statistical test the CBCT and the EAL accuracy difference was not statistically significant(P 0.05),RVG measurement accuracy rate differences with the other two methods was statistically significant(P 0.01).Conclusion:The results of the EAL and CBCT is the most accurate,the RVG result is the worst.The CBCT can be considered as an effective complement to the commonly clinical methods.Read More
