Title: The Chinese Frontier during 1930s and 1940s: the Common Field of Chinese Intellectuals' Patriotic Feelings and their Academic Research
Abstract: During the 1930s and 1940s,China faced the most threat of its survival and a serious internal crisis because of the Japanese invasion.In academic,the two countries were in a potential confrontation.From 9.18 1931,to the Anti-Japanese War,a large number of intellectuals,such as Fu Sinian and Gu Jiegang as representatives,were engaged in Chinese frontier research designed to refute Japanese scholar's China's borderland history and geography studies,in an effort to stir up the Chinese people and government's national border consciousness and stimulate their responsibility of saving the nation from foreign invasion. During the war of resistance,a large number of eastern universities,research institutions and intellectuals were moved westward. Discussion of the Chinese frontier by intellectuals became a common field of intellectuals which not only manifested their patriotic feelings,but also used western social science theories and methods to develop a concept of the Chinese localization frontier in the field of academic research.
