Title: Synthesis of Biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid
Abstract: The synthetic technology of Biphenyl-4,4'dicarboxylic acid was studied.Using biphenyl as raw material,the biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid was synthesized by means of chloromethylation,hydroformylation and hydrogen peroxide oxidation of the biphenyl.The optimum reaction conditions were such that the amount of substance ratio of urotropine to 4,4'-Bis(chloromethyl) biphenyl was 3.5∶1 for hydroformylation,the reaction temperature of oxidation was 80~85 ℃ and the reaction time was 8.0 hours.Under the optimum conditions,the overall yield of during this three-step reaction was 38.2% and the mass fraction of Biphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid was 98.0%.
