Title: Analysis of the Doppler Radar Product of a Local Heavy Rain in Northwest Yunnan Plateau
Abstract: A new generation of Doppler weather radar products are used to analyze the local torrential rain process in Huaping of Yunnan Province on June 29,2009.Results showed that before the heavy rainfall, the south-east wind lasted more than an hour near the ground, which improved the temperature and humidity conditions near the ground of the piedmont, and under the effect of the local topography with northwest high and southeast low(the leeward side),a convergent zone and the topographic forcing uplift formed. Then, westerly winds in boundary layer near the top of the mountain provided beneficial factor for divergence in boundary layer, and it was one of the main reasons for this rainfall weather process.Analysis also showed that two mesoscale echos in the process of moving southward gathered and strengthened, and VIL value during the heavy rainfall period presented the single peak type, and the scroll of meso-scale and micro-scale system and the effect of meso-γ scale adverse wind area convergence zone core were the key factors resulting in this local torrential rain.
