Title: Relationship between Resistance to Rice Sheath-blight and Chitinase Activity for Transgenic Lines and Resistant or Susceptible Varieties
Abstract: Chitinase activity in the rice of resistance check, susceptible parent and its homozygous lines transferred with chitinase gene (RC24) was detected, and the resistance to rice sheath blight ( Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn) was surveyed. The results showed that transgenic lines exerted higher inhibitor efficiency on the growth of the fungus, and the resistance level was significant correlated with the expression of the exogenous chitinase gene. When the chitinase activity in the wild type was low, exogenous gene can cover up or inhibit endogenous gene expression. The chitinase activity in resistance check, susceptible parent of transgenic lines all started to become high and reached the peak during 72 h, after inoculated the pathogen. But the inductive effect and intensity of chitinase activity were much higher in resistant varieties than in susceptible ones. The chitinase activity in differant leaves for all rice materials had no distinct differance after the inoculation.
