Title: Fluoxetine vs amitriptyline in treatment of 16 depressive disorder with a double-blind study
Abstract: AIM: To assess the effect of fluoxetine in treatment of depressive disorder. METHODS: The 16 patients with depressive disorder were admitted into a randomized, double-blind and control trial. Eight patients (M 3, F 5, age 45±s 14 a) were treated with fluoxetine 20 mg, po, qd for 6 wk. Eight Patients (M 3, F 5, age 44±13 a) were treated with amitriptyline 75 mg, po, bid for 6 wk. RESULTS: Each group reached significant diminishment on total scores of HAMD, HAMA and SDS, Each group had a effective rate 100%. The efficacy and side effects showed no significant difference between two groups. CONCLUSION: Fluoxetine is a new satisfactory antidepressant.
