Title: Observations on the Efficacy of Penetration Needling plus Warm Needling in Treating Scapulohumeral Periarthritis
Abstract: Objective To investigate the efficacy of penetration needling plus warm needling in treating scapulohumeral periarthritis. Methods One hundred and twenty patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis were randomly allocated to two groups, 60 cases each. In the treatment group, acupuncture needles 75 mm long were inserted from point Jianliao into Jiquan and from point Jianneiling into Jianzhen, a reducing method was used and then a moxa stick 2 cm long was put on the handle of each needle and ignited, two moxa sticks for each needle. The treatment was given once daily, 10 times as a course. In the control group, points Jianyu, Jianliao, Jianneiling, Jianzhen and Quchi were needled with acupuncture needles 40 mm long once daily, 10 times as a course. The therapeutic effects were evaluated in the two groups after two courses of treatment. Results The total efficacy rate was 95.0% in the treatment group and 85.0% in the control group; there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P0.05). Conclusion The therapeutic effect of penetration needling plus warm needling on scapulohumeral periarthritis is superior to that in the control group.
