Title: Residual determination of hydrogen peroxide in cleansing verification by Spectrophotometry
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To determine the content limit of hydrogen peroxide in cleansing verification.METHODS Utilizes the principle that potassium permanganate can react with hydrogen peroxide in Sulphuric acid medium quantitively, which may reduce the absorbance value of potassium permanganate (the equation is 2KMnO4 + 3H2SO4 + 5H2O2=K2SO4 + 2MnSO4 + 5O2 ↑+ 8H2O ).Using depurated water as reference, determine the absorbance value of potassium permanganate at 525nm by spectrophotometry.Calculate the content of hydrogen peroxide according to the changes in absorbance. The content of hydrogen peroxide was in direct proportion with the absorbance value.RESULTS The detect concentration range of hydrogen peroxide was 0~19.48μg·mL-1,presented a well linear relationship in the limit. The recurrence equation was Y=0.0063X+0.0008,r=0.9989;the limit of quantitation and the limit of quantitation were 0.162μg·mL-1,0.540 μg·mL-1 respectively. The average recovery of this method was 102.1% and the RSD was 8.24%(n=6).CONCLUSION The method was sensitive simple, accurate and reproducible, suitable for the content determination of hydrogen peroxide in cleansing verification.
