Title: Normative Reasearch on Self-Development Theory
Abstract: Understanding the concept of self-development is critical for scholars and policy-makers to work on development planning. This paper studies the self-development theory from two dimensions.First,it makes a comparative analysis in-between self-development and three related concepts-viability,endogenous growth and sustainable development and finds out that productive factor endowment and knowledge/technological innovation are two essential impact factors.Second, through a comprehensive study on five main bodies of self-development-individual,firm,market,industry and region, four characteristics of self-development are concluded: autonomous, expansible, endogenous and durative.Furthermore, factor endowment and 'laissez faire' is not decisive to self-develop.Finally,it suggests that knowledge/technological innovation and institutional arrangement should be emphasized.
