Title: Towards Religion and Construction of a Socialist Harmonious Society
Abstract: In order to bring religion into full play in the construction of a socialist harmonious society, it is necessary, first of all, to possess a holistic and correct comprehension of Marx' s views on religion. It is a biased or partial viewpoint to regard 'Religion does harm to people just as opium' as the essence of Marx' s views on religion. The innermost core of Marx' s views on religion is the idea that the formation of religion, its manifestations and characteristics are connected with particular social conditions and historical developments determined by material production and exchange, and they are related to people's actual life. The process of actual life of people in different historical periods and of people in different countries is the most profound origin of the existence and evolution of religion. In the light of the above-mentioned Marx's views on religion, we may draw the logical conclusion: people' s understanding of religion constantly changes along with the development of social history and with that of modem science and technology.
