Title: Report of 114 Cases of Video-assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS)
Abstract: Objective To explore the VATS's clinical values in thoracopathy diseases' diagnosis and theropy Methods We take the retrospective analyses in 114 cases of VATS's clinical features during 1994.4-2001.12, including bullae of lung's resection, obe of lung's whole or wedge resection, treatment of hydrothorax, cleaning of hemothorax and pyothorax, excision of mediastinal tumor, ligation of patent arterial duct, extraction of introthoracic foreign body and the pericardiotomy and open drainage Results No patient died in the surgery, the durations last from 20 minutes to 300 minutes, mean 70 minutes Because of little trauma, less pain and postoprative complications and much shortened recovery time, it is corresponded to calleidic demands and more compatible to the high age and high risk patients Conclusion It is feasibile to treat some thoracopathies with VATS, and it has been an important technology in modern thoracis surgery
