Title: STUDY ON THE PHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF TITANIUM(IV) WITH THE NEW COLOUR REAGENT 4-METHOXYPHENYLFLUORONE AND ITS ANALYTICAL APPLICATION
Abstract: It was found that the new colour reagent, 4-methoxyphenylfluorone (abbreviated as 4-MOPF) reacts with Ti(Ⅳ) in an HOAc-NH 4OAc buffer medium of pH 5.0~5.7 in the presence of CTMAB for ming a coloured complex (mole ratio Ti(Ⅵ)∶4-MOPF=1∶4) having its absorption maxima at 560nm. The molar absorptivity of the colour reaction was found to be 2.2×10 5L·mol -1·cm -1, and Beer′s law was kept in the range of 0 to 1 8μg of Ti(Ⅳ) per 25ml of solution. Besides its high sensitivity, the colour reaction also behaved with high stability and selectivity. By the use of DTPA and hydroxylamine hydrochloride the proposed method has been satisfactorily used for the direct determination of titamium in alloy steels.
