Title: ON FOUR NEW SPECIES OF THE GENUS PIDA FROM CHINA (LEPIDOPTERA: LYMANTRIIDAE)
Abstract: The present paper deals with eight Chinese species of the genus Pida with descriptions of four new species. All type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica.Pida dianensis sp. nov.This new species resembles to P. strigipennis Moore, but can be distinguished by the white ground-colour, fore wing without stripe, whereas in P. strigipennis Moore groundcolour yellowish-white, fore wing with many black short stripes. The male genitalia differs entirely.Holotype ♂ and allotype ♀, Lungling, Yunnan, 1200-1800 m, 15. 19. VI. 1979, collected by Wang Yung-xian.Pida minensis sp. nov.This new species resembles to P. apicalis Walker, but apex of the fore wing with a large white apical patch and a black spot in it, whereas in P. apicalis Walker with a large light buff apicl patch, without black spot. The male genitalia is different.Holotype ♂ and paratype ♂, Chong-an, Fujian. 24. X. 1980. collected by Sung Shih-mei.Pida pica sp. nov.Resembles to P. epiperca Collenette, but the fore wing narrower, abdomen brownish-black, with an ochreous-yellow anal brush, whereas in P. epiperca Collenette fore wing broader, abdomen and anal brush black.Holotype ♂, Mengla, Yunnan, 620-650 m, 15. Ⅳ. 1977, papratype ♂. Hangzhou, Zhejiang. 13. Ⅶ. 1972, collected by Wang Tze-ching.Pida flavopica sp. nov.This new species resembles to P. pica sp. nov., but can be distinguished by the fore wing ground-colour yellowish-white, abdomen light brownish-yellow, with a yellow anal brush and the male genitalia differs entirely, as shown in Figs. 3. 4.Holotype ♂, Mengla, Yunnan. 11.
