Title: The prognostic significance of Copper-transporting P-type adenosinetriphosphatese (ATP7B) expression in primary breast carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of Wilson disease protein(Copper-transporting P-type adenosinetriphosphatese,ATP7B) with the clinicopathologic characteristics and the prognosis in primary breast cancer patients. Methods Expression of ATP7B in 60 breast cancer patients was determined by immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed,paraffin-embedded tumor section.Results(1) ATP7B expression was observed in 22 of 60(36.7%).(2) ATP7B expression was more frequently observed in patients with poorly differentiated carcinoma than those with well differentiated carcinoma(P0.01).No relation can be established between expression of ATP7B and other clinicopathologic parameters.(3) Kaplan-Meier analyses revealed that ATP7B expression both associated with disease-free survival(DFS) and overall survival (OS)(P0.05).(4) In multivariate Cox regression analysis,ATP7B expression, tumor size, axillary lymph nodes metastasis, histological grade and estrogen receptor were associated with DFS and OS(P0.05).Conclusion ATP7B is frequently expression in primary breast cancer, and might be used as one of the markers for poor prognosis in patients with breast cancer.
